THERMOPLASTIC MATERIALS FOR 3D PRINTING
The list of materials that can be used for 3D printing is constantly updated. The analyses and tests we carry out with Breton will allow us to add new, more highly performing and sustainable materials suitable for new sectors and industries.
In this list you will find all the solutions tested and approved up to now: polymers and advanced compounds, with different physical, thermal and mechanical features.

ABS
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a thermoplastic polymer used to create light and rigid objects.
It is an easy-to-work material, retains its shape well and has a smooth finish.
It is suitable for making furniture and, in general, for low-temperature thermosetting moulds.
ABS is available in two variants:
- ABS loaded with 20% glass fibre
- ABS loaded with 20% carbon fibre
ABS with carbon fibre offers greater strength and better performance than classic ABS or glass fibre ABS.
It can also be used for lightweight structural components that do not exceed the glass transition temperature (Tg) during use.

POLYCARBONATE
Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic polymer obtained from carbonic acid. It offers more durability, higher performance at high temperatures and higher productivity than ABS.
It is a very ductile material with a smooth finish.
This polycarbonate is suitable for low temperature thermosetting moulds and for creating furniture. In addition, due to its higher impact resistance than ABS, it is suitable for products that have to withstand impacts at low temperatures (below 0 °C).
Polycarbonate is available in two versions:
- Polycarbonate filled with 20% glass fibre
- Polycarbonate loaded with 20% carbon fibre
Of the two, carbon-fibre-loaded polycarbonate is stiffer and has better mechanical properties than glass-fibre polycarbonate.

PEI
Primarily known as Ultem, this polymer has the highest mechanical and thermal resistance of all the materials we offer (stable up to 180°). With high dimensional stability, it is the best solution for autoclave and thermoforming moulds. With high resistance to chemical and environmental agents and wear, its self-extinguishing properties in the event of contact with open flames complete the overview for this excellent material. PEI is available loaded with 20% carbon fibre.

PETG
It is a polymer made from 100% recycled copolyester, making it an economical and ecological solution.
It is suitable for use at low temperatures and is ideal for rapid prototypes, for tools to be used at room temperature, but also for architectural uses and for consumer products. It also has high resistance to deformation and is easy to machine.
PETG is also available loaded with fibreglass.

Biocompounds
These are materials made from organic fibres from processing waste and bio-based polymers, 100% recycled: an ennobled organic plastic, which promotes a circular and sustainable economy.
These biocompounds come from the most varied natural resources, including cork, wood, bamboo, coconut, marc, denim, etc.
They represent a unique opportunity for companies to launch sustainable and ethical projects and to build concrete and valuable storytelling.
